Volunteers come from all walks of life, e.g., homemakers
and artists, teachers and social workers, working and
retired. Volunteers are representatives, of all ages
and cultural groups. Each volunteer is unique, coming
equipped with various skills and talents to offer to
those who need them.
There is no single reason why someone becomes a volunteer.
It may be to explore and expand one's own horizons,
to offer a challenge for the individual or to contribute
to the needs of the community. Whatever the reason,
committing the time and resources that volunteering
requires and helping a fellow human being in need,
is one of the most rewarding experiences life has to
offer.
The joys and frustrations of reaching out to someone
and the sharing of time and talent, often leads to
a friendship which opens up a whole new world for both
parties.
