The
Board of the Society of Sharing: Inner-City Volunteers
is the governing body of the organization. The
role of the Board of Directors is to plan, determine
policy and be accountable to the contributors so
that the stated purpose, goals and objectives of
the agency can be attained.
The
Board of Directors consists of up to fifteen members
who meet monthly. The membership of the Board is
such that there is a variety of expertise and representation
from which to draw. Within the Board exist several
committees - executive and finance,
fundraising and communications, program and planning
and nominating.
A Board Member is expected to:
- Keep informed about the activities of the agency
and the community and service-giving area in which
it operates
- Attend
Board meetings and related committee meetings
- Be
informed of the Articles of Incorporation, its
by-laws and its code of regulations that relate
to the duty of a board member
- Exercise the utmost
good faith in all dealings with the agency
- Make
a serious commitment to participate actively in
committee matters
- Prepare for meetings by reviewing
minutes and reports
- Get to know other committee
members and build a collegial working relationship
that contributes to consensus
- Participate
in the committee’s annual education
and planning efforts
- Participate in fundraising
activities for the agency
